On Veterans Day, Operation Coming Home in association with the United States Veterans Corps (USVC) held its 8th Annual Sporting Clays tournament at Drake Landing to raise money for their cause.

Operation Coming Home honors the sacrifice of those who have served by providing brand new, custom homes to veterans who have been extremely wounded in recent wars.

Just last month, Staff Sgt. Brandan Taylor was given a home for him and his family by builder CalAtlantic. Previous recipients have featured builders all over the Triangle area such as Sgt. Kyle Snyder receiving one from Lennar at Traditions in Wake Forest.

On Friday, participants in the clay tournament got to experience a day fun of fun, reminding everyone what Operation Coming Home and the US Veterans Corps are all about by honoring Hero Home Recipients and detailing other ways to get involved.

Aside from having Operation Coming Home donate hero homes in association with the HBA of Raleigh-Wake county, the US Veterans Corps also owns Toys For Lil Troops and a food program called the Rescue Ruck that give back to veterans as well. Last year, Operation Coming Home gave away three hero homes in one year as keys were parachuted down to veterans waiting below.
