Closet organization always feels like a daunting task. After you have been living in your home for a while, your most used spaces like closets and pantries start to become more and more cluttered. A clean and organized space can help you start the day with confidence and less stress. And let’s face it – you’re tired of looking for that pesky shoe over and over. You need to know how to get everything organized, and we’re here to help.

Add Additional Shelving

Adding more shelving can give you TONS more space in your closets and pantries. The more surfaces you have to put your stuff on, the more organized your things will be. Keeping items separated is a great way to locate what you need. You want to keep your most used items at arms reach for easy access.

Use Storage Bins

There are many different types of storage bins: clear, Madras, patterned. You may use them each for different purposes. For most used items, especially in the kitchen, we recommend using clear bins so you can spot what you want instantly. In other closets, you may want to use matching bins or boxes. Using like-boxes can bring a sense of unity, and organization to the room. It is very pleasing to the eye, and you’ll know exactly where your stuff is. Group like things together so you know the general area to find what you need.

No Wasted Space

The biggest mistake you can make in your closet or pantry is not using every bit of space. If you have a lot of people and animals living in your house, there’s going to be a lot of stuff. There’s nothing like tripping over a book bag, or the dog’s chew toy on your way out the door to bring on the stress. Where there’s space, add hooks on the back of the door, or on the walls for different items. Invest in a few crates (add wheels for easier access!) and put them on the floor under the last shelf. Normally this area would go unused, but now you are a space-saving master.
