Inside the home, Stock Building Supply contributed all of
the extensive traditional molding and trim from eight-foot
doors to multi-stepped crown moldings to paneled
wainscoting and chair rail. Deep tray ceilings are framed in
crisp white trim and the coffered ceiling in the den features
heavy chocolate-stained beams. | Stock Building Supply joined the team at 1st American Builders early on in the V Foundation Charity Home project. Before the ground was broken for last year's home, they had committed to significant contributions of building materials, not just that year — the project's first — or this, but for the scope of the million-dollar goal. And indeed the 2006 V Foundation Charity home is chock full of some $20,000 worth of materials supplied by the folks at Stock.
"We are so pleased to partner with 1st American and Michael Dean Chadwick on this really worthwhile project," says Stock Building Supply National Accounts Sales Manager, John Holden. "It's been a terrific experience, and we're looking forward to moving through the entire process to make our goal of raising $1 million." Stock provided all of the lumber used to frame the entire home, along with the floor system too. The energy-efficient Capital windows that give this home its exterior charm and interior light were supplied by Stock as well. The elegant, slim line, maintenance-free frames with attractive soft line profiles, combine traditional looks with the best modern materials. These double-glazed windows are thermally insulated and use low-E glass to minimize heat and cooling loss.
And wrapping the V Foundation Charity Home is top-of-the-line lap siding by Hardiplank. This incredibly durable siding incorporates fiber cement technology for a siding product that is virtually indestructible. It is fire, hail and hurricane resistant and is guaranteed for 50 years. And, because of its longevity and recycled material content, Hardiplank is endorsed as a green building material.
In the gables of the house, architectural interest was achieved using Hardiplank shake shingles. All of the siding on the V Foundation Home features James Hardie's new ColorPlus technology. This siding is pre-finished using a unique color process that penetrates throughout the siding material and carries a lifetime warranty. "I think the windows and siding, the colors and styling, along with the architecture of this home," says Holden, "are just a perfect fit for this very unique community." Inside the home, Stock Building Supply provided all of the extensive traditional molding and trim — from eight-foot doors to multi-stepped crown moldings to paneled wainscoting and chair rail. Deep tray ceilings are framed in crisp white trim and the coffered ceiling in the den features heavy chocolate-stained beams. High-profile casings provide timeless, elegant frames for the home's doorways.
And perhaps their piece de resistance, Stock enlisted the resources of their nationally renowned millwork operations to craft the home's signature front door. This stunning custom built entry features stately mahogany door and sidelights. Hand-milled, its deep panels were finished a rich golden hue, and inset with triple rows of elegantly arching beveled glass panels (insulated for energy efficiency). "I think this door says it all," says Holden. "It's unique. It's special. And it just invites you into this very special home."
