Welcome to the Southeastern corner of the Triangle, one of the friendliest portions of what Sir Walter Raleigh called, "the goodliest land." Nestled to the south and east of Raleigh, this area, encompassing portions of Wake, Johnston and Harnett Counties includes the towns of Garner, Clayton, Zebulon, Wendell, Knightdale and Selma.
Because development has been steady but not explosive during the 1990s, the area's communities have had time to plan for essential facilities and services to accommodate the growth that is coming their way. Projects like the Garner Senior Center, Lake Benson Park and numerous golf courses make the area desirable for commuters to Raleigh and RTP.
A new home purchase in the area is likely to prove a good investment. Residential growth has begun to surge, and land prices are generally lower than in other portions of the Triangle. Homes in the area have an average price in the low to mid $100s. And lot sizes are generally larger, averaging 3/4 of an acre. Many, large, lush tracts of land are still available in areas adjacent to transportation arteries. The steady decrease in vacancy rates in existing retail, office, commercial and industrial properties is evidence of a robust economy.
This indicates community stability and a commitment by area residents to build on their quality of life. This is further evidenced by strong growth in educational and arts programs throughout the region.
The area is poised for rapid growth. The shift from a primarily agricultural to a suburban population is likely to continue at a hurried pace. A pro-business environment and a commitment to well-managed development with a sensitivity to the needs of its citizens will help make the region live up to its slogan, "the most promising corner in the Triangle."

Commuting
The Triangle is a big place, and we have an honest-to-goodness, stop and roll rush hour. Keep that in mind when you are choosing a home. For easy reference, remember:
It's about 25 minutes driving time between Raleigh and Durham (via I-40 and the Durham Expressway).
It's about 35 minutes from Raleigh to Chapel Hill (via I-40 and NC Highway 54).
It's about 12 minutes from Durham to Chapel Hill (via US15-501).
Definitely add time to these estimates if you're driving during rush hours (7:30-9:00am and 4:00-6:00pm).
