I have heard about gutter protections. What are the real advantages over regular gutters?

Moss’ company is a Gutter ProTech® dealer. Gutter ProTech® gutter guards are crafted out of the same coiled aluminum as gutters themselves—or out of copper if you so desire—and have small louvered openings on the sides of the guards to keep leaves and other debris (not to mention small nesting birds) out of your gutters. In essence, the guards are a shield extending from the edge of your roof to the outside edge of the gutter, allowing water to run into the gutters while filtering leaves out.

“Anything small enough to fit through the holes is washed right through the downspouts,” said Cory Burns, marketing manager for Production Construction. Leaves and debris that are kept out of the gutters will dry out and blow away, or they can be hosed off of the roof edge from the ground. Thus, the gutters become virtually maintenance-free.

Another advantage is that they come in so many colors, it’s easy to have the gutter guards and even the gutters themselves blend right into your home’s exterior color scheme.
