Recently, Movoto, a real estate firm based in San Mateo, California conducted a survey to determine the safest North Carolina towns and two of Raleigh’s most popular neighboring communities, Cary and Morrisville, both not only made the list, but came in respectively at number two and number four. Those are pretty good numbers for a list which includes towns all across our fair state!

Movoto began by compiling a list of all North Carolina towns with a population of 10,000 or more full-time residents. They then researched the 2012 FBI Uniform Crime Report and collected data in specific categories. Using a fairly simplistic rating system, they came up with their top ten list.

As previously mentioned, Cary came in at number two with just 1,436 crimes per 100,000 residents while Morrisville was only a bit higher with 1,952 crimes per 100,000 citizens. Makes you feel pretty safe about living in that new home in the Raleigh area you just purchased, doesn’t it?
